Preface: Clearwire is scammy as all get out. Please don’t use their service unless you love sitting on hold with support and don’t mind paying too much for bad service.
A couple months back I finally got around to canceling my Clearwire account. Or so I thought. I jumped through the hoops, got myself a return label, and sent the modem back. End of story right?
Last week I noticed a Clearwire charge showing up on my account.
I called customer support who confirmed I had sent my modem back, but they hadn’t logged it into inventory yet… Okay, so their receiving group is incompetent. The support rep assured me that she would take care of it and call me back the following day. She never called… So their support group is also incompetent.
I waited 2 days and on Saturday I decided to chat with their online support folks since the call center was closed. The online support rep confirmed that my modem had been returned and told me that her manager would call me on Sunday at 1pm to confirm that my account had been closed. It’s now Monday, and since no one has called me AGAIN I called into the support center AGAIN.
After 15 minutes and explaining myself 2 more times, they finally told me my account is being closed and my money refunded. I’m glad I don’t need to rely on a call back this time because they don’t seem to actually do that.
Every time I call in I’m reminded about how I can refer my friends to use their service. As a customer, this is probably the worst experience I’ve ever had. Every time that friendly voice tells me I can save $25 by screwing over my friends I get a little hot under the collar.
